CONDITIONAL MORALITY

The morality rules of our preachers were the rules of those periods.  So it can never be considered as everlasting truths. We can take the example of incest, which according to our present day morality theory is a vice for many religions including that of Adam.  But if Adam and eve were living according to those moralities prevailing on this day,  then human kind should have ended then and there itself.  When you say DON’T COVET OTHERS WIFE,   that rule simply means that at that historical context, the prevailing marriage system was similar to that which prevail here now a days, and not more than that and surely not that the role of the female in this everlasting universe will be that of a wife forever.   Our morality concepts sometimes show such rigidity and at times we even show our protests in clandestine forms.  The outcome will be sometimes a show of super morality, or a mocking morality as I had stated earlier when one girl brushed by a youth accepted it when she saw that it was a film star and when  the other exclaimed as follows.’ And you blackie . what you had done. Better you were a film star’. You may think that it is an insult to the male, but evidently her motto was the same.

What we are to think now is , whether these morality concepts go one with our inner self.  The men who studied about morality had stated that it’s origin was the outcome of a particular way of thinking in which man assumed that for every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction.  We do not act in such a way, which provokes hatred in us when done towards us by the others.  I do not filch your money, because I don’t want you to filch mine. it is the psychology behind it.  And so the change of attitude of a minority will not change our moral concept as a whole.   But every revolution starts in the mind of the people.  The hints of such attitude changes  can  be traced in our everyday behavior , when one man, preaching DO NOT COVET OTHERS WIFE, casts his secret eye towards a passerby woman, or the seemingly  chaste woman, hide the photo of her fan  film star under her book. These may by innocent vices, but are hinting towards an upheaval that is going to happen in our morality structure.  We are reluctant to understand this truth.
